Healthy Lawns Healthy Waters Class – May 4, 2023
We invite you to join us for a Healthy Lawns Healthy Waters (HLHW) class in collaboration with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension on May 4 with a focus on Bell, Burnet, Coryell, Hamilton, Lampasas, Mills and Williamson Counties and the Lampasas River Watershed. The free event will be in-person from 1:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. and be held at the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Office, 607 North Vandeveer, Suite 100, in Burnet (click for map).
The HLHW class is a residential rainwater harvesting and turf management training that aims to improve and protect surface water quality by enhancing awareness and knowledge of best management practices for residential landscapes. Attendees can RSVP online or contact John Smith, AgriLife Extension program specialist, College Station, at johnwsmith@tamu.edu or 979-204-0573. Those who RSVP to the event will receive updates and materials related to the meeting via email.
Participants can also have their soil tested as part of the training. The soil sample bag and analysis are free to Healthy Lawns and Healthy Waters Program participants. Residents can pick up a soil sample bag with sampling instructions and the Urban and Homeowner Soil Sample Information Form, beginning August 2, at the AgriLife Extension offices in Bell, Burnet, Coryell, , Lampasas, Hamilton, Mills or Williamson Counties. Bags containing residents’ soil samples should be returned to the location where they were obtained by one week after the meeting. Participants may also bring their soil sample to the training on May 4th. Please do not mail the soil sample to the lab.
